The rather new phone application called “Forest” helps people to refrain from their phones. Therefore, it supports people to stay more focussed during different activities, for instance working, studying or while enjoying time with friends. During the time the application is activated/opened, users collect coins by not using their phone for a certain time goal. If the goal is reached, meaning the user did not deactivate/close the application for the distinguished time, the tree is planted. If the user closes the application to use the phone in this time, the tree is being killed. To make this as real as possible, the application founders connected it with a real-tree-planting organisation, “Trees for the Future”, to plant real trees on the earth.
By spending your virtual coins that you earn during actively using the application, “Forest” donates to “Trees for the Future” and with this creates orders of planting.
This application is very beneficial as it is good for its users to be less distracted from phones and therefore stay more focussed when needed or wanted. In addition, the application fulfils a good purpose with its environmental side by planting real trees. The sustainable aspect happens to be a good motivator for users to stay focussed.
