Who has not heard of it? The Food Rescue is a great example of many at HTH, founded by Ms Visser de-Amundson. As the name indicates, Food Rescue is about reducing food waste. But not only food waste, it aims to engage students through creating a circular community and, consequently, raise awareness for this rising issue. Due to the increase of food waste in Western countries, a shortage on food arises in other countries especially third world countries. HTH feels responsible for this matter and acts on it as well. As the hospitality industry is one of the most polluting industries when it comes to food waste, HTH want to show others that it can be done differently by initiatives like these. To give you an example, every month leftover fruits and vegetables from external companies are given to the HTH community. Initially, this started with the Rescued Tomato as you all probably know. More than a year later, students can enjoy a wide range of fruits and vegetables. As a result, HTH directly works on Climate Action (SDG13), Good Health and Well-being (SDG3) and Zero Hunger (SDG1).
